A commitment to excellence in patient care

In his acceptance speech, Nyamongo dedicated the award to the hospital’s Board of Management and staff, acknowledging their invaluable contributions.

“I come here to receive this award with deep gratitude and great humility. It is an award that speaks to our highest aspiration as a leading private healthcare facility in East, Central and Southern Africa,” he remarked.

He emphasized that such recognition is rare for organizations within Africa and the global South, extending his gratitude to ESQR for the honor.

Nyamongo underscored the hospital’s dedication to promoting health and well-being, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Number 3.

“We pride ourselves on our highly skilled medical specialists and modern medical technologies, which set us apart in delivering superior patient experiences in Africa,” he added.

Excellence in specialized healthcare services

The Nairobi Hospital is renowned for its robust emergency and trauma care, critical care services, and a variety of specialty clinics, including orthopedic, well-baby, and executive clinics.

Its specialized medical team is equipped to perform a wide range of complex procedures, such as open-heart surgery, kidney transplants, trauma care, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, laparoscopic surgery, and cancer therapy.

As the hospital celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, Nyamongo expressed confidence in his team: “I receive this award with an abiding faith and confidence in our team of dedicated medical personnel who continue to provide our patients with transformative healthcare.”

He also mentioned the hospital’s openness to forming new partnerships and collaborations to enhance patient care.

A strategic focus on quality and expansion

The Best Quality Leadership Awards recognize organizations across various sectors globally, with ESQR aiming to promote a culture of quality improvement.

Dr. Arista emphasized, “ESQR makes a positive contribution to quality culture through its annual conventions and award-giving ceremonies.

“It recognizes organizational excellence, facilitates networking, and disseminates innovation and visionary thinking.”

In recent years, the Nairobi Hospital has invested nearly Kshs 2 billion in expansion projects aimed at enhancing service delivery.

These initiatives, funded by internal revenues, have not only sought to reverse the trend of Kenyans seeking medical care abroad but also to attract patients from neighboring countries, including Uganda, Ethiopia, the DRC, South Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi, and Malawi.

Additionally, the hospital was recognized last year at the International Hospital Federation Awards in Lisbon, Portugal, for its Glivec International Patient Assistance Program.

This program has provided free cancer treatment access to over 2,000 patients since its inception in 2004, further solidifying the hospital’s reputation for excellence in healthcare.
