By automating routine tasks and enhancing system connectivity, these new systems facilitate predictive feedback and reduce the likelihood of errors.

One standout feature is the built-in sample tracking, which utilizes barcoding and camera technologies to eliminate sample mix-ups, providing users with enhanced accuracy and peace of mind.

Sudharshana Seshadri, Vice President and General Manager of Agilent’s divisions, stated, “Analytical lab managers must optimize efficiency without sacrificing quality. InfinityLab Assist enables significant reductions in training time, troubleshooting, and automation of daily routines.

Enhancing access to mass spectrometry technologies

The release of the InfinityLab LC Series comes at a time when the mass spectrometry (MS) market is projected to grow at an impressive 8% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2024 to 2031, as reported by SkyQuest.

This growth is fueled by the increasing adoption of MS in medical research and drug discovery. Agilent, a prominent player in this field, aims to bolster this trend by improving resolution and accuracy in their offerings, thus expanding their market presence.

The convergence of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence is also set to redefine the mass spectrometry landscape.

Industry leaders, including Agilent Technologies, Danaher Corporation, and Thermo Fisher Scientific are focusing on innovations that will enhance the efficacy and capabilities of mass spectrometry, further driving market development.

New features for improved lab efficiency

The InfinityLab Assist technology is a crucial component of the new LC systems, designed to support users of all skill levels.

It automates instrument routines, simplifies sample preparation, and provides troubleshooting assistance, which collectively enhance the overall user experience.

These systems also maintain compatibility with earlier LC models and ensure seamless integration with chromatography data systems (CDS).

Additionally, the Infinity III LC Series has received third-party verification from My Green Lab’s revised ACT 2.0 Ecolabel, underscoring Agilent’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

For the first time, these systems will provide customers with their carbon dioxide footprint, highlighting Agilent’s focus on reducing environmental impact.

Philip Binns, President of Agilent’s Life Sciences and Applied Markets group, noted, “Collectively, the instruments in the Infinity III LC Series establish a new benchmark in liquid chromatography.

Agilent is committed to exceeding user expectations by delivering intelligent instrumentation that simplifies operations and enhances productivity.”

Strategic acquisition of Sigsense Technologies

In a strategic move to strengthen its position in the analytical solutions market, Agilent recently acquired Sigsense Technologies, a San Francisco-based startup specializing in AI and power monitoring for lab operations.

While the financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed, this integration enhances Agilent’s CrossLab Connect, a suite of digital applications designed to optimize lab performance through inventory management, asset monitoring, and smart alerts.

Armin Jehle, Vice President of Agilent CrossLab Services Division, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “We are excited to welcome the Sigsense team to Agilent. They are innovators in leveraging artificial intelligence for lab operations.

By working closely as one team, we will extend their AI technology further, enabling more customers to gain insights that contribute to reduced downtime and increased productivity.”
