UAE – American Hospital Dubai, a leading private healthcare provider in the Middle East, has partnered with RivExcel to expand medical tourism services across Africa, launching three new offices in Nigeria in 2024.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in advancing global healthcare accessibility and fostering the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) ambition to be a global hub for medical tourism.
The opening of medical tourism offices in Nigeria is part of a larger plan to establish 30 offices across key regions in Africa and Eastern Europe.
These offices aim to connect patients with world-class healthcare services available at American Hospital Dubai, renowned for its expertise in over 40 medical and surgical specialties, including oncology, cardiology, and orthopedic surgery.
Sherif Beshara, Group CEO of American Hospital Dubai, highlighted the initiative’s importance, stating:

The Lagos representative office will serve as a hub to bring advanced medical solutions closer to local communities, offering premium healthcare to a broader audience.

The UAE has solidified its position as a global leader in medical tourism, attracting international patients with its exceptional healthcare services and innovative programs.
The partnership between American Hospital Dubai and RivExcel aligns with the UAE’s strategic goals to enhance the nation’s healthcare ecosystem while showcasing its capabilities on a global stage.

Setting high standards in healthcare
Established in 1996, American Hospital Dubai has continually redefined healthcare excellence in the region.
It is the first hospital in the Middle East to receive accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI).
Additionally, its laboratory is the first private sector lab in the region accredited by the College of American Pathologists.
The hospital’s cancer program was also the first to offer comprehensive, one-stop care in Dubai.
With a 254-bed capacity and cutting-edge facilities, the hospital’s American Board-certified physicians and affiliations with prestigious organizations like the Mayo Care Network have positioned it as a beacon of premium healthcare in the region.
The hospital also operates seven clinics across Dubai, ensuring accessibility for local communities.
Its Life Support Training Centre is the first in the UAE’s private sector to be recognized as an American Heart Association International Training Center.

The launch of the Nigerian offices brought together prominent figures from various sectors, highlighting the importance of the collaboration.
Notable attendees included Buti Al Mulla, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mohamed & Obaid AlMulla Group, and Marwan AlMulla, CEO of the Dubai Health Authority’s health regulation sector.
Also present were Tonye Princewill, Executive Chairman of RivExcel, and Tayyibat Mohammed, Nigerian Consul General in Dubai.
