USA – Apptronik, an Austin-based robotics company, has successfully raised $350 million in a Series A funding round co-led by B Capital and Capital Factory, with participation from Alphabet’s Google.
This substantial investment aims to accelerate the production and deployment of Apptronik’s humanoid robot, Apollo, across various industries.
Apollo is designed to perform tasks traditionally handled by humans, particularly in sectors such as logistics and manufacturing.
Equipped with advanced artificial intelligence, Apollo can move packages and manage supply chain-oriented tasks, enhancing efficiency and productivity in warehouse and manufacturing environments.
Beyond its initial applications, Apptronik plans to expand Apollo’s capabilities to address needs in eldercare and healthcare sectors.
The versatility of humanoid robots like Apollo positions them as valuable assets in assisting with patient care and support, potentially transforming the healthcare landscape.
The funding will also facilitate the scaling of Apptronik’s operations, including the expansion of its team and manufacturing capabilities to meet the growing demand for AI-powered humanoid robots.
CEO and co-founder Jeff Cardenas emphasized the significance of this development, stating, “This represents an inflection point for the industry. The way I think about robotics and AI is it’s very similar to large language models in 2023. So I think 2025 is where you’re going to see a lot of activity for robotics.”
Apptronik has established strategic partnerships to enhance Apollo’s development and deployment.
In 2022, the company partnered with NASA to advance humanoid robotics, followed by a 2023 collaboration with NVIDIA to showcase dexterous manipulation.
AI integration allows its robot, Apollo, to interact with the physical world and expand its capabilities.
In December 2024, Apptronik entered a strategic partnership with Google DeepMind, strengthening its AI expertise alongside NVIDIA, a leader in AI computing.
The company has also secured commercial agreements with Mercedes-Benz and GXO Logistics to develop real-world robotic applications.
Previously, Apptronik raised US $28 million, but a new US $350 million investment signals strong confidence in its vision for the future of humanoid robotics.
