Joint programs for skill development

Aspen Medical and UOWD will collaborate on the creation and delivery of healthcare training programs that focus on critical care, emergency response, and public health initiatives.

This collaboration will also extend to public health awareness campaigns that aim to tackle pressing regional healthcare challenges.

One of the highlights of the partnership is the development of a clinical skills and simulation lab.

This state-of-the-art facility will provide UOWD students with experiential training, enhancing their clinical skills and critical thinking abilities.

Glenn Keys expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration: “We are excited at the prospect of working with UOWD to create meaningful pathways for students and professionals to advance their skills in healthcare. This partnership will enhance learning experiences and support workforce development and emergency preparedness in the region.”

Professor Mohamed Salem shared a similar sentiment: “Collaborating with Aspen Medical opens doors to innovative healthcare education and training opportunities. Our students will greatly benefit from the hands-on experiences and real-world insights that Aspen Medical brings.”

Claire Westbrook-Keir, General Manager of Aspen Medical in the UAE, emphasized the collaboration’s significance: “Partnering with UOWD is a pivotal step in advancing healthcare education and workforce readiness, combining our global expertise with their strong academic foundation for lasting benefits in training and public health awareness.”

Expanded Educational Opportunities

Aspen Medical’s contribution to UOWD will go beyond facilities and training programs. The company will offer guest lectures on field hospital management, emergency response in high-risk environments, and cutting-edge deployable healthcare technologies.

Additionally, students and alumni in Health Sciences will have the chance to participate in internships at Aspen Medical’s healthcare facilities and public health initiatives, gaining practical insights and experience.

The MoU solidifies the shared commitment of Aspen Medical and UOWD to nurturing a skilled, sustainable healthcare workforce capable of addressing the sector’s evolving challenges.

Aspen Medical’s advisory services will further ensure that UOWD aligns its curriculum with global best practices for healthcare standards and workforce readiness.

Aspen Medical’s accomplishments in the UAE

Aspen Medical has established a strong presence in the UAE, demonstrating its commitment to innovative healthcare solutions that cater to diverse communities, especially in underserved areas.

As a global provider of healthcare services, Aspen Medical has partnered with various government and private sector organizations to deliver high-quality healthcare infrastructure.

In 2012, Aspen Medical launched the National Ambulance service in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Police, a pivotal initiative that enhanced emergency response capabilities across the region.

By 2014, the service expanded to include additional emirates—Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah—representing the first partnership of its kind between an Australian healthcare provider and the UAE, setting a new standard for healthcare delivery in the Gulf.

In 2015, Aspen Medical further showcased its adaptability by providing Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) to ADNOC subsidiaries, ensuring rapid medical attention in critical environments.

Additionally, the company secured a contract from the Department of Health Abu Dhabi to establish six primary healthcare clinics in rural areas of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, significantly improving healthcare access for local residents.

In addition to its projects in the UAE, Aspen Medical has demonstrated its commitment to supporting healthcare development in Australia and the Indo-Pacific region.

Through the Aspen Medical Foundation, the company has introduced scholarships totaling US $80,000 for nurses in Fiji, highlighting their focus on fostering continuous professional growth.

Investing in our team ultimately benefits the patients and communities we serve,” said Gavin Whiteside, Aspen Medical Chief Executive in Fiji.
