USA – GE HealthCare has launched the Genesis portfolio, a suite of cloud-based imaging solutions designed to help healthcare providers streamline workflows, improve data accessibility, and reduce costs.
The announcement was made at the HIMSS 2025 conference in Las Vegas.
The Genesis portfolio includes four main components: Edge, Storage, Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA), and Data Migration.
These solutions are aimed at hospitals and clinics struggling with rising imaging data volumes while facing financial and IT challenges.
By shifting to a cloud-based system, healthcare organizations can store, access, and share medical images more efficiently while maintaining strict security and compliance standards.
Scott Miller, CEO of Enterprise Imaging Solutions at GE HealthCare, explained the company’s vision: “We are committed to delivering enterprise imaging solutions with our cloud-first strategy.
Clinicians and caregivers want the latest tools to do their jobs effectively, but many organizations lack the financial and IT resources to access them. With the Genesis portfolio, we’re providing cloud-enabled solutions that can transform patient care through accessible, sharable, and secure imaging data.”
Key features of the Genesis portfolio
- Edge: A secure bridge between on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring seamless data transfer.
- Storage: A cloud-based solution that reduces the burden of managing imaging data, allowing hospitals to focus on other IT priorities.
- Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA): A fully managed archive that integrates imaging data with electronic health records (EHRs) for easier access.
- AI-Powered Data Migration: A partnership with AI specialist Enlitic enables faster, more efficient migration of medical imaging data to modern cloud infrastructure.
Partnerships and future plans
Genesis solutions will be hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), GE HealthCare’s longtime cloud provider.
The company aims to triple its cloud-enabled products by 2028 as part of its broader digital transformation strategy.
Enlitic, a key collaborator in the Genesis portfolio, provides its Ensight Suite—an AI-powered tool that enhances the migration and management of medical imaging data.
Through this collaboration, Genesis will help healthcare providers standardize and optimize imaging data, making it more accessible and efficient.
At the Las Vegas launch event, GE HealthCare emphasized that Genesis will allow healthcare organizations to modernize their imaging workflows without needing extensive on-premises infrastructure.
By leveraging AI and cloud computing, hospitals can reduce operational costs, improve efficiency, and enhance patient care.
