John Kowal takes over as president of Siemens Healthineers Americas

USA – Siemens Healthineers has announced the appointment of John Kowal as the new president and head of the Americas.

Kowal, who previously served as president of the Americas for Varian, will succeed David Pacitti. Pacitti has been named the new CEO of Avanos Medical.

Kowal has been an integral part of the Varian sales team since 2005. Over the years, he has held several leadership positions with increasing responsibilities.

In 2017, he took on the role of president of the Americas for Varian, where he played a key role in strengthening customer relationships and business growth.

Darleen Caron, Chief Human Resources Officer and member of the Managing Board at Siemens Healthineers, expressed confidence in Kowal’s leadership.

His track record of cultivating long-term, deep customer relationships has significantly contributed to our leading market position in the Varian business segment. His outstanding commercial and overall leadership capabilities make John the ideal candidate for this role,” said Caron.

Kowal holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and completed the executive development program at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

David Pacitti transitions to Avanos Medical

David Pacitti has been a driving force at Siemens Healthineers, leading marketing, sales, service, and support functions across North and Latin America.

His leadership helped position the company as a top player in the medical technology industry.

Caron acknowledged Pacitti’s contributions, stating, “We are very thankful for Dave’s commitment over the last decade to position Siemens Healthineers as a leading medtech company in the United States. We are particularly grateful for his leadership in building strategic Value Partnerships with world-renowned medical institutions in the U.S.”

Pacitti’s next role as CEO of Avanos Medical marks a new chapter in his career. Avanos is a leading provider of medical solutions, specializing in enteral feeding and pain management.

The transitions will take effect on April 14, 2025.
