Osano named CEO of The Nairobi Hospital

KENYA – The Nairobi Hospital board has officially appointed Peter Osano as its new Chief Executive Officer.

The announcement, signed by board chairperson Bartley Onyambu, confirmed that Osano would take over from James Nyamongo, who left the role in December 2024.

Osano had been serving as Acting CEO since December 13, 2024, following a decision by the previous board, chaired by Chris Bichage, to place Nyamongo on compulsory leave.

Before stepping into the interim CEO role, Osano was the Director of Supply Chain at the hospital.

He brings over 17 years of experience in healthcare and business, with a career that spans private equity investments across Africa and Asia, and leadership roles in both FMCG and healthcare sectors.

Osano is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Strategic Management at USIU-Africa. He also holds an MBA in Global Business Management and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Daystar University, alongside additional qualifications in executive leadership and supply chain management.

A well-recognized professional, Osano is affiliated with several industry bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS-UK), and is certified in international procurement and Six Sigma.

In its official statement, the board expressed confidence in Osano’s strategic outlook and ability to lead the hospital into a future focused on innovation and patient-centered care.

The announcement did not mention any new leadership changes, though major appointments were made in December 2024 as part of a management restructuring.

These included Dr. Reuben Okioma as Deputy CEO and Deputy Director of Medical Services & Research, among other key leaders in finance, nursing, ICT, and operations.
