SCIEX launches new high res MS system to propel proteomics research

USA – SCIEX has expanded its high-resolution accurate mass spectrometry lineup with the release of the ZenoTOF 7600+ system, a breakthrough designed to streamline and accelerate proteomics research.

This new system, part of SCIEX’s ZenoTOF family, integrates advanced features with cutting-edge technology and marks a significant step forward in quantifying and analyzing complex protein structures, critical for advancements in precision medicine.

The ZenoTOF 7600+ introduces the innovative ZT Scan DIA strategy, a multi-dimensional data acquisition method that combines quadrupole capabilities with detailed MS/MS data obtained through the Zeno trap.

This integration allows researchers to achieve comprehensive protein analysis with improved accuracy, making it easier to advance protein biomarker candidates from the discovery phase to practical application.

This new system merges the depth of DIA with the specificity of DDA, alongside the accuracy of targeted approaches, enabling researchers to precisely quantify entire proteomes,” said Jose Castro-Perez, SCIEX’s vice president of product management.

Our goal is to support scientists in optimizing their clinical and translational workflows to accelerate breakthroughs in precision medicine.”

The ZenoTOF 7600+ boasts unique features that set it apart:

  • ZT Scan DIA: The newest generation of data-independent acquisition (DIA) integrates DDA, DIA, and targeted approaches into a single workflow, offering over 125% more quantifiable protein groups at sub-nanogram levels than traditional discrete-window DIA methods.
  • Electron Activated Dissociation (EAD): With tunable fragmentation across a range of molecule types, EAD expands the system’s versatility, providing deeper insights into molecular structures and functions.
  • Enhanced Speed: With a scanning speed of up to 640 Hz, the ZenoTOF 7600+ is SCIEX’s fastest accurate mass system, optimized for analyzing large panels and increasing throughput.
  • Precision Mapping: The system maps MS/MS scans with Q1 quadrupole scanning, which significantly enhances the accuracy in distinguishing isomeric peptides and localizing post-translational modifications (PTMs).

Strategic collaborations to advance research

Alongside the ZenoTOF 7600+ launch, SCIEX has entered into three key collaborations to bolster proteomics capabilities and enhance workflow compatibility.

The ZenoTOF 7600+ now integrates with PEAKS 12.5 from Bioinformatics Solutions Inc., the Evosep One from Evosep, and the Aurora Series XS Range from IonOpticks.

These partnerships aim to deliver a seamless research experience, uniting best-in-class solutions to enhance proteomic data quality and streamline analysis.

Jose Castro-Perez emphasized the importance of collaboration in advancing proteomics, stating, “The proteomics community thrives on collaboration. These partnerships bring together industry-leading solutions to create an optimal workflow that empowers researchers to push the boundaries of their studies.
